About Dehradun, the Host Town

Dehradun is a beautiful and scenic valley town located between lesser Himalayan formations to its north and Shivalik to its south. The Dun Valley is bounded on the east by the river Ganga and on the west by the river Yamuna. Dehraudn city has been one of the main tourist attractions in north India. There are number of places of tourist interest around the city like Mussoorie, Lukshman Jhula in Rishikesh, Budha temple, Haridwar etc. Dehradun has world wide reputation as a centre of providing international education.

The city is a home to some of the most prestigious organizations of the country such as Indian Military Academy, Forest Research Institute, ONGC (Head Quarters), Survey of India, and Doon International School. The history of this valley is linked to Guru Dronacharya and the Sikh Sant Shri Guru Ram Rai Ji Maharaj. The road distance from Delhi to Dehradun is about 260 kms. The kingfisher airlines operates daily two flights from Delhi to Dehradun and back.
